Delete your data
Last updated: October 26, 2026
Teapot Notes keeps your notes on your device and, if you turn on sync, in a hidden app folder of your own Google Drive. We never store your notes on our servers, except a notebook you explicitly send us via “Share for Improvement”, so deleting them is in your hands:
- Delete notes in the app. Deleting a notebook moves it to Trash. Trash is not emptied automatically. To remove a notebook for good, open Trash and choose “Delete forever” or “Empty trash”. This cannot be undone, and sync then removes the notebook from your Drive as well.
- Wipe all synced data at once. In Google Drive, open Settings → Manage apps → Teapot Notes and choose “Delete hidden app data”.
- Revoke Teapot Notes' access. Visit myaccount.google.com/permissions and remove Teapot Notes.
- Uninstall the app to remove everything stored on the device itself.
That covers everything you keep yourself: notes, drawings, recognition data, and sync state. The exception is a notebook you explicitly sent us via “Share for Improvement”. You can delete it in the app on the device you shared it from (Settings → Shared for Improvement → Manage → Delete), or email [email protected] and we'll remove it. Only the app holds the key that lets it delete the notebook, so after you uninstall the app, email is the only way. A shared notebook is not linked to your account, so deleting your account does not delete it. Your account, if you have one, is a separate matter, described below.
Delete your account
You have an account if you ever signed in to Teapot Notes, whether from Settings or while buying Premium. Your notes and Google Drive sync do not depend on it, and deleting the account does not touch them.
If you only want to stop paying or leave a device, you don't need to delete the account. In Settings → Account & Premium you can cancel your subscription through “Manage subscription” (Premium ends at the end of the paid period and free features keep working), sign out, remove a device under “Devices”, or change your email address.
To delete the account in the app, you need to be signed in. It works the same on iPhone, iPad, Android and Mac:
- Open the account settings. In the app, go to Settings → Account & Premium and choose “Delete account”.
- Confirm it is you. Confirm on the warning screen, and we send a one-time code to your account email. Entering the code deletes the account.
- Cancel your subscription in the store. Deleting the account does not cancel the subscription you bought from Apple or Google, and Apple or Google keeps billing you until you cancel it there: Apple subscriptions, Google Play subscriptions. If your subscription still renews, the warning screen tells you so and links to it, but you can delete the account either way.
If you cannot sign in or open the app, email [email protected] from your account's address and ask us to delete the account. To ask for a copy of your account data first, email [email protected].
What happens when you delete
Deletion in the app is immediate. It closes the account permanently and cannot be undone. There is no grace period and no way to restore it. Premium and the device slots on the account end, and you are signed out. The app shows that the account was deleted; we do not send a confirmation email. We answer deletion requests sent by email within the period the law sets, normally 30 days.
If you sign up again, you start a new account from zero. If your store subscription is still running, use Restore in the app to attach it to the new account.
What we keep
After deletion we keep a record of the account (with the email address and id in changed form), purchases, devices and your language setting, for as long as needed for fraud prevention, security and legal reasons. To ask us to erase them, email [email protected] from the address of your account. We erase them unless the law requires us to keep them or we need them to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. The free trial belongs to the device, not to the account. Its record (a hashed device key, the platform and model of the device, and the trial dates) stays after deletion so that each device gets one trial. Details are in our privacy policy.
