Terms of Use

The rules for using Teapot Notes and its Premium subscription, in plain words.

Agreement

These terms govern your use of the Teapot Notes app and this website. By installing or using them you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.

The account

You need an account only to buy Premium. The free features, the 30-day free trial and Google Drive sync work without one.

You sign in with your email address. We send a one-time sign-in code to it, and there is no password. You are responsible for keeping access to that email address, and for what happens under your account.

Your Google Drive connection is separate from your account. The Drive account and the account email may differ.

Premium subscriptions

Premium includes handwriting recognition, audio transcription, shape beautify and Share for Improvement. Anything that already exists stays available after Premium ends, for example search over indexed handwriting, Markdown export from the cache and transcripts you already made.

There are two plans: $3.99 every month and $24 every year. Prices are shown in the store at purchase and may differ by region, currency and taxes.

You buy Premium through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and the store handles payment. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you turn off automatic renewal at least 24 hours before the period ends. The store charges your store account for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.

To cancel, turn off automatic renewal in your store account: on iPhone and iPad in Settings, under your name, Subscriptions, and on Android in Google Play, under Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions. When you cancel, you keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your Teapot Notes account does not cancel a subscription, and the store keeps billing you until you cancel it there.

Refunds are handled by the store under its own policy.

One store account can hold one active Premium subscription. If you delete your Teapot Notes account while your store subscription is still running, you can use Restore in the app to attach it to a new account, on a device with the same Apple ID or Google account. Apart from that, Premium that is active on one Teapot Notes account does not move to another account. After it fully ends, the same store account can buy Premium for a different account.

30-day free trial

Teapot Notes gives every device a free 30-day trial of all Premium features. The app grants it automatically after first launch. It needs no payment, no card and no sign-in, and it never turns into a charge on its own.

The trial is bound to the device, and each physical device gets one trial. Reinstalling the app does not start a new one. After 30 days the device returns to the free features, and Premium continues only if you buy it.

Devices and slots

Each account has 5 device slots, and every device platform counts. A device takes a slot when you sign in on it. Devices that only use the free trial, the free features and Drive sync without signing in take none.

Every 12 months of paid subscription refills your free slots to 5, and the slots it adds are yours for good. Paid months add up across subscriptions, and turning off automatic renewal does not reset them. Extra slots are sold only to Premium users, in the app for $1.99 each, on iOS and Android, once their slots are full. If a purchase is refunded, its capacity is removed, and if the account is then over its limit, the most recently added device loses access.

A slot belongs to a physical device permanently. Removing a device from your list ends its access, for example if it is lost or stolen, but does not free its slot. Signing in again on the same device reuses its slot. A device over the limit cannot sign in to the account.

Acceptable use

Use Teapot Notes lawfully. Your account is personal, so do not share it with other people. Do not resell your Premium access, and do not attempt to circumvent the trial, the device slots or any other technical limit. Do not interfere with the service, probe it for weaknesses or use it to harm others.

You keep all rights to your notes. We do not claim ownership of them.

Account deletion

You can delete your account in the app. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. We first ask for a fresh sign-in code sent to your email address.

Deleting your account ends Premium on it, and a new account starts from zero, with 5 slots. It does not cancel your store subscription, which keeps billing until you cancel it in the store. If that subscription is still running, you can use Restore in the app to attach it to a new account. Your notes and Drive sync are not affected.

Some account records are retained after deletion for analytics. To have everything erased, email [email protected].

Disclaimers

Teapot Notes is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Handwriting recognition and transcription are automatic and can be wrong. Check anything important. Keep your own backups of notes you cannot lose.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost business, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for Premium in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your rights as a consumer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Turkey, and the courts of Ankara have jurisdiction. Mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live stay unaffected.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we make a material change we will tell you in the app or by email before it applies. Continuing to use Teapot Notes after a change takes effect means you accept it. Changes never alter what you have already paid for.
